In the last four weeks I’ve visited many places: Sydney, Melbourne, Strathfield, Kyneton, Daylesford. But where the great bargains are to be had is Queensland. They are really hurting up there. Between the strong dollar, Cyclone Yasi, and the uncertainty of our economy, people just aren’t traveling to Queensland enough right now. But all along the coast, people are working hard to change that.
Queensland at the moment offers incredible value. I’ve just spoken in Caloundra, Lindeman Island, Townsville, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Airlie Beach, Mission Beach, Ingham, Brisbane, Cannes, Gladstone… a very busy four weeks.
The Queensland coast does have a unique product. They offer a casual and relaxed lifestyle that makes visitors return year after year. They have so much on offer, from five-star luxury resorts to family holiday parks to backpacker villages and hostels. There’s something to suit everyone’s needs and budget.
Yet there’s not many people about. I think the media got carried away in all their doom and gloom: they love those stories. And people think it’s still like that. It’s not. It’s looking good up there.
If you’re in the market for a great Australian holiday, you can’t beat Queensland. Especially at the moment, there are terrific deals on offer.
