Doing That Little Bit Extra

I was flying with Qantas in economy from Sydney to Adelaide when I did a silly thing. I left the book I was reading in the seat pocket and forgot it. With any book I read, I tend to write notes all over the pages. Luckily, I always put my name and phone number in the book as well.

The book was terrific, it’s one of my favourites, with lots of great information. I thought I’d never see it again. But one of the cabin crew saw it in the pocket and took it upon themselves to ring me, even though it wasn’t their job. They could see it was a much-loved book. They rang me and got my address, and also explained that all the books and magazines left on the plane go into the recycling bin, never to be seen again.

I was so grateful to this person. They made my day, doing that little bit extra. People wonder why I prefer to fly Qantas: it’s the little things that make the big difference.
