Byron Bay to Steep Point! From Australia’s most easterly point to the most westerly. We did it! And boy oh boy, was it tough! This is without a doubt the hardest thing Keith & I have ever done.
The road to the pay station leading to Steep point, around 200kms, is a deeply corrugated unsealed road. And then the ‘road’ in is soft & loose sand, perfect for getting bogged. And of course we did. But so did the 4WDs! The road was shocking, and quite a few of the 4WDs actually had to turn back as they just couldn’t make it.
Never again! At least not in the A Model. But Steep Point itself is magnificent. Beautiful! And camping near the pay station was pretty speccy too.
So, now we’re back in civilisation – and on bitumen!!! – and on our way to Geraldton, where I’ll be giving a talk on Thursday morning (7.30am) at Fundraising Breakfast at the Harbour View Restaurant, Marine Tce, Geraldton.
